      2. Find and tap Settings > Data usage.
      3. Drag the slider beside Mobile data traffic to turn data traffic on or off.
      TipWhen data traffic is turned off, your device can still establish Wi-Fi®, NFC and Bluetooth® connections.

    • Turn off GPS, Bluetooth®, and Wi-Fi® connections when you don't need these features.

    • Increase the synchronization interval for your email, calendar, and contacts.

      To change the inbox check frequency

      1. From your Homescreen, tap Icn sony and app tray tablet.
      2. Find and tap Mail.
      3. Tap Icn sony key menu, then tap Settings.
      4. Select the account for which you want to change the inbox check frequency.
      5. Tap Check frequency > Check frequency and select an option.

    • Keep track of your battery consumption and see which applications are using the most power.

      To Keep Track of Your Battery Consumption

      1. From your Homescreen, tap Icn sony and app tray tablet.
      2. Find and tap Settings > Battery to view the estimated remaining battery percentage and battery time.
      3. Tap SHOW BATTERY USAGE to view a list of applications and features that have consumed battery power since the last charging cycle.
      4. If needed, uninstall or restrict the usage of battery-draining applications or features.

      To View How Much Battery Power Applications Use

      1. From your Homescreen, tap Icn sony and app tray tablet.
      2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
      3. Select an application and review its battery consumption under Battery usage.

    • Close and exit applications you are not using.

    • Lower the screen brightness level.

      To Adjust the Screen Brightness

      1. From your Homescreen, tap Icn sony and app tray tablet .
      2. Find and tap Settings > Display > Brightness level.
      3. Drag the slider to adjust the brightness.

    • Turn off your device or activate Airplane mode if you are in an area with no network coverage. Otherwise, your device repeatedly scans for available networks, and this consumes power.

      To Turn on Airplane Mode

      1. From your Homescreen, tap Icn sony and app tray tablet.
      2. Find and tap Settings > More.
      3. Drag the slider beside Airplane mode to the right.

    • If you are using Charging Optimization, you may find that you need to charge your device more frequently. The Charging Optimization feature improves the battery lifespan and performance by slightly reducing the battery voltage. You can choose to disable Charging Optimization.

      To Turn off Charging Optimization

      1. From your Homescreen, tap Icn sony and app tray tablet.
      2. Find and tap Settings > About tablet> Status.
      3. Tap Charging optimization and drag the slider to the left.

    • Use an original headset from Sony to listen to music. A headset consumes less battery power than the device’s loudspeakers.

    • Disable any live wallpaper.

    • Update your device to ensure you have optimal performance and the latest enhancements. Read more about how to update and find the latest software version.

    • Perform a factory data reset. This is sometimes the best solution if your device stops functioning properly, but note that it will delete all personal content saved on the internal memory of your device. Be sure to back up data you want to keep.

      To Back up your Data Using a Computer

      1. Make sure Xperia™ Companion for Windows or Mac OS is installed on your PC or Mac®.
      2. Connect your device to the computer using a USB cable.
      3. Computer: Open the Xperia™ Companion software. After a few moments, the computer detects your device.
      4. Select Backup on the main screen.
      5. Follow the on-screen instructions to back up data from your device.

      To perform a factory data reset

      NoteBefore you start, make sure to back up any important data that is saved on the internal memory of your device to a memory card or other non-internal memory. Factory data reset will erase all data from your device’s internal storage, and you will not be able to access the files on any of your encrypted SD cards again.
      NoteTo avoid permanent damage to your device, do not restart your device while a reset procedure is underway.
      1. From your Homescreen, tap Application screen icon in Sony Smartphones.
      2. Find and tap Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.
      3. Tap Reset tablet.
      4. If required, draw your screen unlock pattern or enter your screen unlock password or PIN to continue.
      5. To confirm, tap Erase everything.
      NoteYour device does not revert to an earlier software version of Android™ when you perform a factory data reset.
      NoteIf you forget your screen unlock password, PIN or pattern, you can use the device repair feature in Xperia™ Companion to erase the security layer. You need to provide your Google account login details to perform this operation. By running the repair feature, you reinstall software for your device and you may lose some personal data in the process.
