    Bokeh and Monochrome effects

Arrow left Xperia XZ2 Premium support overview

You can take pictures with the Bokeh and Monochrome effects when using the dual camera on your device. The Bokeh effect decreases focus in the background of a photo to emphasise objects at the foreground, for an artistic effect. The Monochrome effect creates a classic style effect with a smooth gradation between black and white. The Monochrome effect can be used for both photos and videos.

To take a photo with the Bokeh effect

    1. When using the camera, tap Mode > Bokeh.
    2. To adjust the background defocus strength, tap White balance icon > Dual effect tab bokeh. Drag the slider to adjust.
    3. To adjust the brightness, tap Colour brightness icon. Drag the slider to adjust.
    4. Press the camera key or tap the shutter button to take a photo.

If you get too close to or too far to an object while using the Bokeh effect, a warning message appears. If this happens, adjust the distance between your camera and the object to take the photo with Bokeh effect.

To take a photo or record a video with the Monochrome effect

    1. When using the camera, tap Mode > Monochrome.
    2. Select Monochrome video or Monochrome photo.
    3. To adjust the contrast, tap White balance icon > Dual effect contrast. Drag the slider to adjust.
    4. To adjust the brightness tap Colour brightness icon. Drag the slider to adjust.
    5. Press the camera key or tap the shutter button to take a photo or record a video.
