    Navigating applications

    You can navigate between applications using the navigation keys and the recently used applications window, which lets you switch easily between all recently used applications. The navigation keys are the Back key, the Home key, and the Recent apps key. You can also pop open two applications on the screen at once using the split screen mode, if the application supports multi-window function. Some applications get closed when you press the Home key Icn sony key and home to exit while others are paused or continue to run in the background. If an application is paused or running in the background, you can continue where you left off the next time you open the application.

    To open the recently used applications window

    • Press Icn sony key open recent apps .

    To quickly switch between recently used applications

    • Quickly press Icn sony key open recent apps twice.

    To close all the recently used applications

    • Tap Icn sony key open recent apps and then tap CLEAR ALL.

    To open a menu in an application

    • While using the application, tap Icn sony key menu.


    A menu is not available in all applications.

    Split screen mode

    Split screen mode enables you to view two applications at once, for example, if you want to view your email inbox and a web browser at the same time.

    4 Split screen key – Select a recently used application
    5 Home key – Go back to the Home screen
    6 Back key – Go back to the previous screen within an application or close the application


    Not all applications support split screen mode.

    To use split screen mode

    1. Make sure that the two applications that you want to use in split screen mode are open and running in the background.
    2. Open the application that you would like to use in split screen mode, then tap and hold Icn sony key open recent apps . The application will be assigned to the first part of the split screen.
    3. Select the second desired application from the thumbnail list.
    4. If you want to resize the split screen windows, drag the split screen border in the centre.
    5. To exit split screen mode, tap and hold Icn sony key multiwindow apps while the split screen windows are displayed.

    One-handed operations

    You can activate the one-handed operation mode to use your device with one hand.

    To enable or disable one-handed operations

    1. From your Home screen, tap Icn sony home apptray normal > Settings > One-handed operations.
    2. Tap the Resize screen slider to enable or disable the function.
    3. Tap Icn sony key and home, then drag your thumb from the right corner to the center of the screen.


    Tap the Optimised apps slider to customize the options for One-handed operations.

    To adjust the position of the screen

    1. To move the screen to the left side or to the right side, tap Icn sony textinput left arrow or Icn sony textinput right arrow accordingly.
    2. To move the screen upwards or downwards, drag the horizontal stripes at the edge of the resized screen.
    3. To resize the screen, drag the three diagonal stripes at the edge of the resized screen.


    To return to full screen mode, tap Icn sony resize screen.
